SUMMARY:The Blind Experience
DESCRIPTION:The Blind Experience (hosted as part of FDOT Mobility Week) is an experiential opportunity to navigate the built environment while blindfolded and guided by Mobility Specialists and volunteers. Elected Officials\, community leaders and supporters are invited to participate in this important event to promote awareness of the White Cane law and pedestrian safety. Show your support as you experience the built environment from the perspective of a blind or visually impaired person. This year’s event will include a tour of Lighthouse Works. Last year\, Lighthouse Works created 25% of all new blind jobs in the United States. Today\, the organization employs nearly 300 BVI individuals who are blind or visually impaired. \nAn RSVP is required for this event.
