MetroPlan Orlando addresses issues of equity in transportation planning through its Nondiscrimination & Language Plan. We have an active community outreach program that welcomes participation in the transportation planning process from all Central Floridians, regardless of race, color, national origin, age, sex, religion, disability, or family status.
If you have questions about MetroPlan Orlando’s compliance with nondiscrimination requirements, please consult the plan below or contact our Title VI coordinator/community outreach strategist, Mary Ann Horne, at 407-481-5672 x305 or info@metroplanorlando.gov.
COMING SOON: Our Transportation for All Plan
MetroPlan Orlando is developing a Transportation for All: Overcoming Obstacles Plan to set a roadmap for equitable transportation. We are inviting leaders from diverse organizations who share a goal of ensuring Central Florida transportation is accessible for everyone to join with us. This group, called the Transportation for All Network, will share perspectives, feedback, and recommendations.
The first convening of the Transportation for All Network was at a webinar on May 23, 2024, which featured a nationally recognized speaker on transportation equity and provided a time for sharing with local leaders. We collected ideas and feedback from more than 70 participants and will incorporate that into our Transportation for All plan.
We hope to continue the work of the Transportation for All Network as part of the creation of our 2050 Metropolitan Transportation Plan.
For information about the Transportation for All Network, please contact, Mary Ann Horne, MaryAnn.Horne@MetroPlanOrlando.gov.
TITLE VI Program: NONDISCRIMINATION & Language PLAN
Through MetroPlan Orlando’s Title VI Program: Nondiscrimination & Language Plan, we adhere to the provisions of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prohibits discrimination in any program receiving federal assistance, and relevant provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
The plan includes:
- How MetroPlan Orlando complies with federal and state requirements associated with nondiscrimination and the transportation planning process.
- Central Florida community characteristics data for Orange, Osceola, and Seminole counties to ensure that planning products analyze, mitigate, minimize or avoid disproportionate and adverse impacts on communities traditionally underserved in the planning process.
- A self-assessment with information on frequency of contact with limited English proficiency persons, vital programs/services, and cost of resources.
- A language assistance plan using results from the organization’s self-assessment to identify potential needs in the three-county area and resources available to provide meaningful access to the organization’s programs, services, and activities.
- A processing procedure for discrimination complaints.
The draft plan below will be considered by the MetroPlan Orlando Board for approval at its December 11, 2024 meeting:
