PLEASE NOTE: The in-person meeting will be at Apopka City Hall. The presentation on recommended changes for Rock Springs Road and extensions to the West Orange Trail will be available in person or online, and participants can ask questions.
A proposal to make changes to Rock Springs Road and Sandpiper Street in Apopka, and to extend portions of the West Orange Trail, will be discussed at a hybrid public meeting on Thursday, Sept. 22. The venue for the in-person public meeting will be the Apopka City Hall Council Chambers, which is a CHANGE from the original plan.
The in-person meeting will be held from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at the Apopka City Hall Council Chambers, 120 E. Main St., Apopka. Attendees will view maps and diagrams outlining proposed changes, take part in a live presentation on the project at 6 p.m., and ask questions.
Meanwhile, virtual attendees can participate in the presentation via Zoom, beginning at 6 p.m., and submit their questions online during the Q&A session. The link to register for the virtual meeting is the SAME as in previous announcements. You can register for free at: https://bit.ly/ApopkaMeet2
Participants will see how two studies that began in 2021 have resulted in a recommendation to improve safety and access on Rock Springs Road and to extend the West Orange Trail in three areas. MetroPlan Orlando has partnered with the City of Apopka and Orange County to conduct these two simultaneous Complete Streets studies. The study team collected input through two surveys and a virtual public meeting to come up with this preferred plan for making the area safer and more accessible to everyone.
