Regional Leaders to Convene for Central Florida Micromobility Safety Initiative

MetroPlan Orlando is bringing together leaders from across Central Florida to address one of the region’s fastest-growing transportation safety challenges. On August 27, 2026, representatives from local governments, school districts, colleges and universities, law enforcement agencies, transportation partners, and health and safety organizations will gather for the inaugural Central Florida Micromobility Safety Initiative Regional Roundtable.

The Regional Roundtable marks the next step in a collaborative effort announced by the MetroPlan Orlando Board on July 8 to improve safety for people using e-bikes, e-scooters, and other micromobility devices. The initiative is led by Board Chair Commissioner Nicole Wilson (Orange County), Vice Chair Commissioner Viviana Janer (Osceola County), and Secretary-Treasurer Commissioner Bob Dallari (Seminole County).

The Central Florida Micromobility Safety Initiative recognizes that while many organizations are already making progress within their own communities, micromobility safety challenges extend beyond jurisdictional boundaries and require greater regional coordination. Through the Regional Roundtable, participants will begin identifying common challenges, sharing successful strategies, and exploring opportunities to develop a regional policy framework and identify best practices that support local efforts while improving safety throughout Central Florida.
